CyberCon Romania 2023 is one week conference that unites top professionals in cybersecurity and related areas with the following objectives:

CyberShare online conference took place on May 29, 2020, being carried out with the support of Iași City Hall. The Romanian Association for Information Security Assurance (RAISA) was represented at this event by Mr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI – vice president of RAISA.

The main purpose of the event was to present the current cyber-threats and cyber-attacks and to identify data and information systems protection solutions, as well as to detail the Horizon 2020 projects: RED-Alert and EnergyShield.

Mr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI moderated “Challenges and Opportunities for start-ups and SMEs” section and presented “The Evolution of Cyber Threat”, emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

The last section was dedicated to the importance of education and awareness of cyber-threats, to increase the level of cybersecurity.

The Romanian Institute for Public Order Studies annual conference “Professional transformation and consolidation in the public order learning – Institutional experiences and partnership development within the Ministry of Internal Affairs” was organized on October 23-25, 2019. The Romanian Association for Information Security Assurance (RAISA) was represented at this event by Mr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI – RAISA Vice President, as a speaker.

During this event, Mr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI presented “The impact of digital transformation on the educational system”, underlying the challenges caused by the phenomenon of digitalization and artificial intelligence on the educational system.

The 7^th edition of the Cybersecurity Dialogues Congress was organized in Sibiu, Romania, by Swiss WebAcademy – a Romanian-Swiss web professional association, under the aegis and with the support of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), on September 12-13, 2019. The Romanian Association for Information Security Assurance (RAISA) was represented to this event by Mr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI, as a speaker and moderator.

The conference was organised as a platform for public-private dialogue in the field of cybersecurity. Mr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI moderated the panel “The Human, gateway of all disasters if unaware, key of a secure defence if well trained“, where he had the presentation “Human facing evolutive and new threats… a dynamic perspective“.

The Cybersecurity Dialogues Congress 2019 provided an opportunity for discussions between private and public sectors, to learn how to benefit from applying the best practices and resolve challenges from cyberspace.

The Cyber Security Protection Summit Peru 2019 was organized in Lima, Peru, by Secure Soft Corporation, on June 11, 2019. Mr. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI attended this event as a keynote speaker and a representative of the Romanian Association for Information Security Assurance (RAISA).

The main goal of the event was to create a platform for the public-private dialogue in the field of cybersecurity, to explain the current cyber threats and cyber-attacks and the importance of cybersecurity.

The conference was open by Mr. Oscar Aviles, CEO of Secure Soft Corporation and Mr. Jorge Castañeda, General Director of Secure Soft Corporation. They presented the importance of the event for creating a safe and secure space in Peru.

As well, Mr. Castañeda said that the company invests in technological development, continues to expand the capabilities of its cyber SOC and is incorporating machine learning and artificial intelligence within its capabilities. Mr. Aviles, commented on the Framework, which is the reference document for cybersecurity strategies that establishes a security roadmap, revealing the level of maturity and security of the companies.

Mr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI, the Vice President of the Romanian Association for Information Security Assurance (RAISA) presented the latest challenges in the field of cybersecurity, describing also the solutions for fighting the current cyber threats.

Mr. Mihai said that the main threat is the one we all simply know as malware and presented the geography of local malware attacks.  In the group of most significant malware, there are the financial trojans, ransomware, cryptojacking and botnets. Then, Mr. Mihai analyzed the online and offline attacks vectors, discussing also solutions to fight the cybercrime phenomenon.

In the last part of the first panel, Mr. Marcos Isasi from Secure Soft Corporation, discussed about the role and how to build a Cyber SOC. Mr. Isasi said that the most important component in the creation of the cyber SOC are the people: the analysts. The second component is a SIEM, and a company that does not have a SIEM, can hardly cope with the attacks, “because not even a Jedi will be able to read all the logs.”

The third component is the management of vulnerabilities, since no company can guarantee that it is 100% secure, since there is always the possibility that an area of the company generates a vulnerability; therefore, the vulnerability management process must be constant. The fourth component is cyber intelligence, which is all information, updated, that will feed the SIEM. The last advice Mr. Isasi gave to professionals who want to implement a cyber SOC is to automate their processes, something that SecureSoft has already done.

The conference was structured into 4 panels, where representatives from 16 important cybersecurity companies explained the needs of the cyber protection and their solutions.

Companies like CheckPoint, DarkTrace, F5 Networks, FireEye, Fortinet, MCafee, Palo Alto Networks, Tenable, Akamai, CyberArk, Qualys, Cyxtera, Progress, or Symantec showed live their cybersecurity applications in the exhibition hall of the conference.

In the end of the event there was a conference press, where Mr. Oscar Aviles (CEO Founder – Secure Soft Corporation), Mr. Jorge Castaneda (Corporate Regional Manager – Secure Soft Corporation) and Mr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI (RAISA) presented the importance of the security in the cyberspace.

The excellent meeting infrastructure, the prominent speakers and the advanced cybersecurity solutions contributed to interesting and stimulating discussions and the competent and attentive staff ensured the success of the Cyber Security Protection Summit Peru 2019.

The Digital International Forum 2019 was organized under the High Patronage of the President of Romania, at Bucharest (May 7, 2019) and Sibiu (May 8, 2019). The Romanian Association for Information Security Assurance (RAISA) was represented at this event by Mr. Ioan-Cosmin Mihai – RAISA Vice President.

The 8^th edition of the CyberCentral Summit, organized by the European Business Conferences Group (EBCG) in Prague, Czech Republic, took place on April 11-13, 2018. The Romanian Association for Information Security Assurance (RAISA) was represented at this event by Mr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI – RAISA Vice President, as a speaker and moderator.

Running for the 8^th year in a row, CyberCentral Summit is devoted to bring together leading experts across the IT and cybersecurity sectors. It is a forum for practitioners and influential presenters from the industry to exchange information, ideas, business stories and hands-on practical solutions to problems common within the profession. In Prague, more than 100 attendees gathered to make good use of the presentations, the workshops and the strategic case study analysis, along with lectures focused on the technical aspect of things.

The program was structured along three streams that attendees could choose from, making it selecting which events to attend that much easier. The streams included a summit one, a technical one and a strategic one, each tailored according to the needs of the participants and the presenters. More than 30 speakers helped industry leaders better prepare for 2018 by delivering 37 strategic and technical solutions within the 3 days of the conference.

Mr. Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI organized a 4-hour workshop entitled “Social Engineering on a Corporate Scale“. The workshop was supported by presentations, practical demonstrations and exercises, thus contributing to better training of professionals in Europe to investigate cyber attacks.

The event addressed public authorities and institutions in Europe, IT&C service and IT service providers, personal data processing companies, online trading companies, financial services companies, and cyber security consultants.

Attendees were also able to listen to David Hitchcock, an FBI expert, and Rastislav Janota, a member of the Management Board of the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security, as well as watch a live demonstration by Tobias Schrödel, also known as Germany’s – and probably the world’s best – IT comedian, who explains technical flaws in unparalleled and relatable manner.

On May 16, 2018, CIO Council and Cariere Magazine organized the 6th edition of the National Conference of IT Managers from Romania at Radisson Blu Hotel in Bucharest.
